Biography
Much of my writing begins with noticing: a detail on a building, a quiet street, a change in light, or a moment that becomes meaningful only because I slowed down long enough to see it. These small acts of attention often become the starting point for inspiration. They remind me that awe is not only found in grand, dramatic places. Sometimes it begins with an ordinary detail that suddenly makes the world feel larger.
Through research, travel, photography, and creative writing, I am interested in how attention shapes memory, connection, and the stories we carry from place to place.
What This Site Explores
Look Up is a multimedia journalism project about attention, awe, and physical space. It asks what we might miss when our focus is constantly pulled toward screens, routes, schedules, and digital recommendations.
The project combines research, personal reflection, photography, and web-based storytelling to explore how looking up can change what we notice, what inspires us, and how connected we feel to the places around us.
Why I Chose This Project:
I started thinking about this project while travelling. I would follow a map from one place to the next and arrive exactly where I meant to go, but sometimes with very little memory of the streets I had just walked through.
That experience made me wonder how often we move through the world with our attention already assigned. Look Up became a way to explore that question and to remind myself and readers that meaningful experiences are not only found in famous landmarks or planned destinations. Sometimes they begin with the simple act of paying attention to what is already around us.
